Moncton Makeup Artist | Current Product Loves |The Best for Winter

The Cold weather is here..and our skin knows it. #OHCANADA! I'm already needing to add a little more moisturizer then I was just 2 months ago! Here are a few favorite product picks to keep skin healthy in the harsh winter months.

#1. Avene Restorative Skin Cream, 40 ml. $28.00 CDN

I started using this product while working on set this past September & October on actors. You may be thinking ..it wasn't that cold in September. Well..when you are on a wharf..at 2:00 am ..in rural NB.. it's cold.
This cream was so great for wind burn, sun burn and freezing temperatures. I will be picking some up for my own personal makeup bag ASAP!

#2. Jack Black's Intensive Therapy Lip Balm, 7g. $8.50 CDN

...How many times can a girl blog about lip balm? So many times. #lipbalmjunkie  Unlike the rest of your skin, the tissue in your lips has no oil glands, meaning; the only moisture it gets is the H2O that is naturally in the skin and the only way that H2O won't evaporate is applying an oil based lip balm (and exfoliating your lips.) Stock up now!

#3 Bastarache Beauty's Mint Exfoliating Face Polish, 120 ml. $47.00 CDN
There is a reason that although 95% percent of my line is lip products, I carry a random skin care item. It is just that important- and I want all my clients to be exfoliating their skin.
Often it's harsh weather (or extreme changes in temperature) our skin cells cannot rejuvenate as fast as they are getting damaged. (this slows down more as we age... #sadpoutyface) A good exfolaitor helps manually speed up the process which helps skin:
  1. Feel more soft and supple
  2.  Because it is more soft, supple and healthy
  3. Reveal the young new skin cells buried underneath the dead and damaged skin

#4. Spectrum Organic Coconut Oil, 414 ml. $11.29 CDN

Literally, next to my beautiful perfume bottle & designer candle is a slightly hideous jar of coconut oil ( I really should depot it into something pretty.) But it is just that good. I don't often wear makeup around the house, so I regularly slather this on to my face, specifically, the cheek and under eye area. Then I rub the left overs into my hands and cuticles...up my arms..and pretty much over any other exposed skin.
If you aren't using coconut oil - start. It's only about $10.00, leave half in your kitchen, take the other half to your vanity (both literally and figuratively.)

#5. MIYU, HYDRATE ME BEAUTY TEA, 40g. $16.00 CDN

Does it actually make your prettier? Or do you just feel more prettier drinking something with "A light and fruity blend of green rooibos, goji berries, rose petals and snow pear essence?" Honestly, I don't know -but I'll take what I can get. Either way, it's not going to hurt and here are a few reasons why you should drink more tea this winter:
  1. It'll make you warm and fuzzy on the inside
  2. Dehydration is a major winter issue, getting your h2o consumption works from tea when it's like this - non-caffeinated and no sugar
  3. It's loaded with anti-oxidants - which we know for sure is a good thing for you!

#6. Better Beard Co. Beard Oil, 30 ml. $25.00 CDN

If any of you have a bearded gentleman like I do, you will know how their beards, and the skin under them, can get itchy and rough, especially in the winter. My husband has three of these beard oils; Naked , Renaissance Man and Lumberjack - and we both love them (on him - I don't use them on my beard.) Lumberjack is my favorite but will be picking up the After Eight to give it a try. I think they make him smell better and help keep his face smooth and he likes manly dose of mosisturizer to his skin.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Share in the comments your favorite products or tips for keeping your skin healthy during these winter months!

Shediac Makeup Artist . Beach Wedding. Janelle & Jesse

Hello Everyone!

I'm baaaack! Well kind of, just getting into the groove of things here after working on 3 different tv productions over the past 3 months - phew! But I am so happy to be back in Moncton, and shifting my focus back to all my fabulous clients! I also have not sat down at a computer in a few months- so I have so much to share! Here we go!

We're going to start with one of my beautiful brides from 2013, Janelle! I have been sitting on this post for months. Janelle and her bridal were SO FUN, and you will clearly see that from the photos. You will also see that I was slightly pregnant for my baby elephant when I was doing Janelle's wedding! Haha!
Also super cool; Janelle also has a blog: recipesontheriver.wordpress.com ! She shared some of her wedding planning, her budget ideas and some DIY projects - so go check it out!

Products Used:
*Laura Mercier Radiance Primer * Kett Cream Corrector in Light * Kett Airbush in 01 & 03 * Dior blush in 01 Pink - Discontinued * Smashbox Lipstick in Pink Posy * Dior Lipgloss in Dormeuse* Urban Decay Naked 2 & Basics Palette * Bobbi Brown Gel Liner in Black * Benefit Mascara in They're Real * Kett Setting Powder* Urban Decay All Nighter Finishing Spray*

Kind words from Janelle on her Bastarache Beauty Experience :
"I was able to see Sarah-Jane's work at a local Bridal Show: she had done the make-up for all the models and I loved the overall natural look that they had. I was able to book with her right on the spot and her prices were very reasonable considering she was going to come to us and do the make-up on site. Overall, we were all VERY HAPPY with our make-up and received lots of compliments. I will be booking with Sarah-Jane again next time I need professional work done and I will highly recommend her to any of my friends!"- Janelle

Moncton Makeup Artist | Wedding Makeup | Solomon Gardens | Jenn & Aidan

Ok first off, let me just say Jenn is an absolute sweetheart - I love her and I loved being a part of her wedding. I was quite pregnant by the time her day arrived and I remember being asked repeatedly if I was ok, or need a drink of water or to take a break or sit down a minute. SO thoughtful and kind.

For Jenn's makeup we went for a classic bridal look with soft pinks on the cheeks and lips and clean classic eye. P.S. Have you ever seen such a photogenic bride and such gorgeous bridesmaids?

*Laura Mercier Radiance Primer * Erase Paste Concealer  by Benefit * Kett Airbush in 03 * Dior blush in 01 Pink - Discontinued * Smashbox Lipstick in Pink Posy * Bite Lipgloss in 2011 - Limited Edition* Naked Basics Palette * Bobbi Brown Gel Liner in Black * Benefit Mascara in They're Real * Lash Genius by Anastasia* Urban Decay All Nighter Finishing Spray*

Moncton Makeup Artist | May Favorites | Products I'm Lovin!

Hi Everyone! I have not been able to post a lot lately due to baby life / work life balance , but thought I would pull together a quick post on some of my favorite products I keep going back to again & again ! Let me know if there is a specific type of product you would like to me share my favorites on for the next Favorite Product Post !

#1. Nars Albatross Highlighter

Available at Sephora for $33.00 CDN
Sheer light golden sheen.
I use this product on the top of the cheek bones, inner tear duct of the eye and sometimes on the cupids bow of the lip for a warm glow. You can blend it away so that it is really subtle or leave a more vibrant highlight to really make the features pop!
 From Nars:
  • Creates instant radiance
  • Made with transparent pigments to avoid heaviness on the skin
  • Universally flattering shades

#2. Makeup Forever Aqua Eyes

Available at Sephora for $23.00 CDN
Matte Brown 25L - Dark Chocolate Brown
An eyeliner that is actually waterproof- If you want to do a smokey eye with this pencil, or any from the collection, you need to get it on and blend right away cause it won't budge once it sets! I also love the chocolate brown, I use brown on my eyes more then black during the day when I do makeup (people that know me know I don't wear a lot of makeup during the day and I love the softness of  brown for my itty bitty eyes- just a personal preference no makeup logic here) The black I also have and it's amazing, I will slowly begin replacing all my eyeliners with shades from this collection.
From Makeup Forever:
Waterproof, highly pigmented, and smudge-proof, the Aqua collection of long-lasting lip and eye colors was created for the Parisian Aquatic Ballet. Tested under water for five hours.

#3. Dior Addict Lipgloss in Angelique

Available at Sephora for $31.00 CDN (Ouch!)
223 Angèlique - pale creamy peach
Dior would be my "go-to" splurge line when I want to pick up some extra special goodies and not look at the price tag. This gloss is AMAZING. My favorite way to wear it is over a light pink lipstick to create a subtle pinky-peachy lip. But it is also BEAUTIFUL on it's own. Although the price is steep - there is a fair amount of product in the tube, the packaging is also beautiful and of course -most important- the product is truly amazing!
From Dior:
Addict Gloss delivers brilliant shine and a volumizing effect in dazzling shades. The smoothing and hydrating formula comes in three finishes: sparkling, pearly, or pure.

#4. M.A.C. Warm Neutral Palette

Available at M.A.C. for $115.00 CDN (I think)
An Eye Shadow Palette in fifteen warm shades: Hey, Warm Breeze, Gingersnap, Dark Brew, Dance in the Dark, Brule Vanilla Extract, Honey Lust, Amber Lights, Saddle, Lemon Tart, Butterfudge, Creative Copper, Unwind and Divine Decadence.
I always opt for warm tones over cool around the eyes and this palette has such a great mix of shades for blue, green or brown eyes with matte and shimmer shades. The only thing I wish it had was a matte meduim tone , like a carmal -the one they have has a shimmer to it, but other then that this has become one of my go to palettes from women of all ages and races - SO VERSATILE!
From M.A.C.:
The highly pigmented powder formula applies evenly, blends and builds beautifully.

#5.  Stila Stay All Day® Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner

Available at Sephora or Shoppers for $26.00 CDN
Black - Jet Black
Stay all day? More like stay all week!! I had swatched this on my arm when I was out shopping and it literally did not come off for almost a week I didn't use makeup remover on it ..just soap and water and it took days for just water to break down the product - it's one of their bestselling products - and I can see why!
From Stila:
This easy-glide, quick-dry precision liner stays in place until you say when—no smudges, feathering, or running. The thin, marker-like tip is easy to use, even for the beauty beginner, and delivers any look—from a thin line to a bold, dramatic stroke. It goes on smoothly without skipping, smudging, or pulling, and lasts all day.

Hope you enjoyed my latest favorite finds!
